
[The] artworld, in simpler terms, is an intricate web of associations between artists, gallery owners and buyers. At certain junctures in life, the world of the private sale between artists and the buyers permeates the nuance world of the art gallery owner as a representative of the artist. Indeed, today it is a norm for an artist to be affiliated with a formal entity that handles sales on their behalf, freeing them to produce work without having to deal with disruptions that comes with dealing directly with clients personally.
Then there is a world in which an artist will be compelled to acknowledge the existence of other professionals within the visual industry who are vital to the development of their career. This is the world where the artist collaborates with entities that can help them achieve a heightened sense of technical brilliance in the production of their work. This is a role that the Artists' Press in Mpumalanga strives to achieve; a place whose description gives a it an air of seclusion that offers creative meditation ambiance which can only results in a creative outpour of new work.
Amongst the people working at the Artists' Press is Ms. Admire Mathebula who has been with the studio since graduating from Tshwane University of Technology, Faculty of Arts and Design a couple of years ago. She did her in-service programme with the John Van Heerden Galley in Garsfontein where she was mentored by Sammy Muller an associate curator at the St. Lorient, The Viewing Room Art Gallery at the Brooklyn Circle, Brooklyn, Tshwane. The present interception was aimed at locating her first as a person, and then as a an artist and a professional in an effort to shed light into alternative careers that artist students may venture into after graduating.
