In the present Podcast, I have the pleasure of reconnecting with Lerato Motaung against the backdrop of his recent project, Traces In The Still Air, an installation which was unveiled at 13 Viljoen Street, Lorentzville in Johannesburg. In our conversation he asserts that the installation has come much as a respond to loss of an important member of his family, his grandmother, and it is a meditation on childhood memories particularly with regards to safety and trauma. A walkabout of the installation which was positively recieved took place on 12 October and there is a seminar scheduled on 26 October. More details about that coming event which will see an assembled panel meditate on this thought provoking installation can be obtained at:
Lerato Motaung via email at lrato431@gmail.com and the Curator, Boitumelo Makousu, via email as well at boitumelomakousu@gmail.com
