The Gathering
In her solo exhibition Morapedi: One Who Prays, Lerato Lodi reflects on the similarities and differences between African Spirituality and Christianity. Although in her discourse, her Christian background is acknowledged, her African Spirituality practice remains an important site of inspiration and artistic expression. In this podcast the work The Gathering guides our discussion that touches on her origins, art training and the ‘liminal space’ that exists between the physical and spiritual realm from whence the body of work comprising of this solo exhibition were realized.

A special thank-you to my colleague in the arts, Morena Percy Mabandu for weaving an equally esoteric text that introduces Mme Lodi to the art world. Lastly, many thanks to Mme Amohelang Martha Mohajane, North-West University Gallery Curator, and her team for their vital role in the physical manifestation of Morapedi: One Who Prays.
