Intraparadox: An Interview with Bridget Modema, A Vehicle of Frequencies & Vibrations

Intraparadox, An Interview with Bridget Modema. A Vehicle of Frequencies & Vibrations.12Aug2021. Dun3s&IrieAmbientMIX

Bridget Modema, a sculptor based in Tshwane, fuses glass and steel to interpret the unseen, the intangible world that permeates our immediate world. Initially trained as a glass artist at Tshwane University of Technology Fine and Applied Arts, she apprenticed at Lothar Böttchier’s Obsidian Glass where she was exposed to sculpture. When she turned professional she was mentored by the renowned sculptor Guy du Toit. Our conversation illuminates her artistic journey thus far and her thematic preoccupations.

Many thanks to Mme Bridget Modema for agreeing to be interviewed for this interception. I could not have found a better moment than this one. I would also like to thank Mr. Etienne van Zyl and Mr. Will Roux of the Artbox Gallery, Monument Park, for opening their doors to me to access Searching for Utopia in a Youniverse Exhibition.
